Control Any Sim Mod Review: Sims 4 NPC Puppet Master

by Wicked Player
Control Any Sim mod by TitanNano

This mod lets you take control of any sim in your game. Most NPC sims will have a new interaction on them in the Actions group.

This interaction allows the player to either make an NPC playable or make him unplayable again. Once a sim has been made playable, they can be controlled like a household sim. If the sim is currently not on the same lot as the sim which added him, away actions will be available. These are the normal away actions for played sims.

All actions are supposed to work as they usually do with sims in the active household. This allows the player to switch to one of the additionally added sims and play them on the lot they are currently situated at.

If a sim is currently on the lot when the player takes control of them, the sim will be instantly controllable. As long as an autonomous sim is selected they will behave as all other active sims and the game treats them like normal active sims. But as long as a usually autonomous sim is not currently selected, they will be treated as an NPC like the game usually does. This can mean that sims will stop obeying the players commands once they switch control to another sim.

Can I make sims of my currently active household unselectable?
Yes, as of version 1.2.0 it is possible to turn sims into household NPCs.

Can I use this mod with MCCC?
Yes, each version is tested with MCCC to assure compatibility.

Does adding a sim/NPC to your household or making them ‘active’ turn them into a household member (for the duration)?
No, controlling a sim does not touch the targeted sims household.

Putting Vlad to Work Doing My Midnight Dishes

Every seasoned simmer has experienced that dreaded knock at two in the morning in Forgotten Hollow. The eerie pipe organ music swells, your camera suddenly locks onto your front porch, and Count Vladislaus Straud slithers inside uninvited with his creepy glowing eyes, hunting for a midnight snack while your innocent Sim is fast asleep. Usually, you are forced to sit there watching your poor Sim get their plasma drained, waking up completely exhausted and dazed for their morning job shift. With TitanNano’s Control Any Sim mod installed, that annoying routine took a hilarious turn.

The moment Vlad glided through my front doorway, I right-clicked on him, pulled up the Actions menu, and seized instant control of the ancient vampire. Instead of letting him bite my character, I immediately directed Vlad to head straight into the kitchen. I made him scrub the greasy stove, wash the pile of dirty dishes rotting in the sink, mop up three puddles in the bathroom, and take the overflowing trash bag out to the curb. Watching the most feared vampire in town meekly scrubbing toilet bowls in his fancy Victorian frock coat before daylight hit was easily one of the most satisfying moments I have ever witnessed.

Fixing Notoriously Tragic Townie Outfits on the Fly

We all know the infamous fashion disasters generated by the game engine whenever new seasons change. You walk into a cozy coffee shop in Brindleton Bay, only to spot a random neighborhood townie sporting an eye-burning combination of bright neon swimming goggles, formal pearl necklaces, wrestling tights, and heavy winter boots. Normally, fixing these abominations requires opening manage households, sitting through a loading screen, finding the correct family, and opening CAS.

With this little miracle tool, you simply click the fashion offender, take control of them for sixty seconds, and shift-click to edit them directly in CAS or switch them into an appropriate outfit category. I spent an entire pleasant Saturday afternoon cleaning up the wardrobe sins of Willow Creek, turning ridiculous clown townies into properly dressed neighbors without ever leaving my active gameplay session.

Forcing Judith Ward to Tip the Local Lounge Singer

Another fantastic way to use this mod is staging fun storytelling drama at public nightlife spots. My struggling musician Sim was playing guitar for spare change at the Solar Flare lounge in Oasis Springs, desperately trying to scrape together rent money while affluent celebrities completely ignored her. Judith Ward strutted into the lounge with three bodyguards, tossing arrogant looks at everyone in the room and refusing to acknowledge the music.

I took temporary control of Judith, navigated her to my musician, and made her drop a generous five-hundred-Simoleon tip straight into the guitar case before ordering everyone a round of drinks at the bar. Then, I simply released control of Judith and watched her resume her normal snobby celebrity routine. It gives you the power to nudge stories in entertaining directions without having to merge households or clutter up your family tree with unwanted characters.

Playing the Uninvited Guest During Spooky Night Gatherings

The control tool also breathes fresh life into parties and neighborhood gatherings. During a Halloween costume bash I hosted in Glimmerbrook, Father Winter and Mortimer Goth showed up together as party guests. Instead of leaving them to stand near the snack bowl staring awkwardly at the stereo, I took control of Mortimer and initiated a goofy dance duel against Father Winter right on the outdoor patio.

Within minutes, the entire party gathered around them cheering and clapping, turning an otherwise sleepy evening into an unforgettable neighborhood blowout. Because the mod leaves their original households untouched, you never have to worry about accidentally breaking game files or deleting townie relationships when you are done playing director.

Clean Household Roster Without Messing Up Family Trees

What makes TitanNano’s mod stand out in my mod collection is how lightweight and tidy it keeps your save file. Older methods of controlling NPCs required adding them to your official household, which inevitably messed up household funds, scrambled family trees, and cluttered up your family portrait banner. Here, releasing control is as quick as clicking a single button, and the NPC quietly returns to their normal unplayed life.

It pairs wonderfully with autonomous social behavior from our The Realistic Reactions Mod writeup and deep relationship tweaks from Set Family Relationships Mod. For players who love crafting immersive neighborhood stories and putting arrogant townies in their place, this utility is pure gold.
