Basemental Gangs Mod

A sim who has maxed a drug dealing skill can create a g by using their cell phone.

Can you use Basemental gangs without get to work?

While “Basemental Drugs” requires only the base game to work, “Basemental Gangs” requires both the former mod, as well as Get To Work, to function.

Is Basemental drug broken?

They are now repaired and available for download. The public version of Gangs still needs an update, but it’s not any game breaking stuff that needs fixing. So it’s safe to play with.

Building an Underground Syndicate in Evergreen Harbor

If you own the Get to Work expansion pack, you know how satisfying active careers like Detective or Scientist can be. But playing the squeaky-clean hero every single time gets repetitive. Basemental Gangs flips the detective dynamic on its head by allowing your Sim to build and manage an underground criminal syndicate from scratch. I decided to test this ambitious mod on a gritty urban street artist named Jax, establishing his crew in the smoky, industrial alleys of Evergreen Harbor.

Jax was tired of scraping by on cheap wall murals and dumpster diving. Using his phone menu, he founded his own crew—the Harbor Vipers—and began recruiting local townies, establishing turf boundaries, and clashing with rival syndicates across the city. What followed was a thrilling, hands-on management adventure packed with street-level comedy and intense turf rivalries.

Setting Up the Secret Warehouse Headquarters

Every respectable syndicate needs a secure base of operations. I purchased an abandoned brick warehouse lot in the industrial district and spent hours designing the ultimate underground hideout. The basement featured neon signs, pool tables, poker setups, and a private briefing room behind a hidden bookshelf door.

The daily headquarters management was hilarious. Jax would gather his crew members around the conference table to assign neighborhood shakedown missions and territory patrols. Jax spent two full evenings painting giant colorful crew murals across the brickwork to mark their territory and impress recruits. In the middle of an intense strategic speech, Knox Greenberg knocked on the front door to enthusiastically lecture the gang about eco-friendly recycling bins and neighborhood compost rules. Jax had to politely usher the earnest eco-activist off the premises before his crew members lost all respect for his intimidating leadership. That contrast between gritty street crime and wholesome Sims townies is pure comedic gold.

The Spice Market Flea Market Shakedown Fiasco

To expand the Harbor Vipers’ influence outside Evergreen Harbor, Jax led his crew on an ambitious recruitment drive through the bustling streets of San Myshuno. They targeted the crowded flea market in the Spice Market district, hoping to intimidate local vendors and claim neighborhood protection kickbacks.

The mission immediately devolved into pure comedy. Instead of terrified compliance, stubborn city vendors like Salim Benali argued fiercely over product prices and brandished cooking ladles. When Jax attempted an intimidating gang pose near a bubble blower, a mischievous street vendor casually blew bubbles into his face, triggering a fit of coughing that caused Jax’s crew members to laugh uncontrollably. Having high-stakes syndicate operations derailed by street performers and spicy curry vendors made the urban crime gameplay feel wonderfully grounded in Sims humor.

Docks Turf Wars and Water Balloon Battles

Territory disputes in Basemental Gangs produce fantastic emergent drama. When a rival crew attempted to claim the shipping docks near the waterfront, Jax rallied his crew for an epic confrontation. The two factions met on the foggy piers, trading heated insults and dramatic social threats.

Rather than grim violence, the confrontations play out with rich Sims humor: crew members shove each other, challenge rivals to aggressive dance-offs, and sabotage each other’s vehicles. While Jax was locked in a tense stare-down with the rival crew leader, Bob Pancakes wandered past the docks holding a bag of takeout donuts, completely oblivious to the crime war unfolding two feet away. Even the local seagulls seemed startled as rival Sims chased each other around rusty shipping containers, waving foam fingers and tossing water balloons with theatrical fury. The entire docks showdown felt like an episode of a quirky neighborhood sitcom, proving that syndicate storytelling in The Sims is at its best when you lean into the game’s natural slapstick humor. The Harbor Vipers successfully drove off the rivals, earning hundreds of Simoleons in territory kickbacks that funded new luxury furniture for their hideout.

Dodging Stakeouts and Midnight Detective Sweeps

As the Harbor Vipers grew in notoriety, local law enforcement escalated their surveillance efforts. A suspicious unmarked black van began parking across the street from the crew’s warehouse headquarters every night, with plainclothes detective townies peering through binoculars from behind frosted glass.

Jax turned the stakeout into a psychological war of wits. Rather than confronting the detectives directly, Jax had his crew members deliver plates of burnt grilled cheese and lukewarm tap water to the surveillance van, offering cheerful mock hospitality that drove the investigators crazy. Watching serious police townies squirm in their seats while trying to maintain undercover surveillance on a gang that was openly serving them diner leftovers had me laughing out loud.

Managing Crew Morale and Headquarters Lounges

Keeping your crew loyal requires more than just successful turf battles. I built a dedicated relaxation lounge inside the warehouse featuring foosball tables, vintage arcade machines, and a jukebox. Rewarding crew members with weekend pizza parties and friendly card games kept their loyalty meters maxed out, preventing bitter internal rivalries and mutinies.

The thrill of managing turf, protecting crew members, and dodging police scrutiny creates a compelling gameplay loop that standard careers cannot touch. It pairs brilliantly with chemical economies in Basemental Drugs Mod and dramatic storytelling in Extreme Violence Mod, giving ambitious storytellers the ultimate urban crime playground in The Sims 4.
